Abstract. The purpose of this paper is to examine the existing REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) regimes in Europe and to analyse whether REITs can be successful investment vehicle on the European markets. REIT is an investment regime that provides an efficient solution for small investors to participate in commercial real estate markets, avoiding real estate disadvantages as part of an investment portfolio. It is possible that the REIT concept will developed in all EU member states introducing real estate companies and their investors with new opportunities. In this paper main features and challenges of REIT regimes will be discussed. |
